King of Pop Michael Jackson may be dead but he is certainly not forgotten. The world was surprised when his sudden death was announced last year but even in his death MJ is
setting records, according to Forbes, he is this year’s top – earning dead celebrity amassing $275 million. He was second in the list last year with $90 million.
Elvis Presley ranked second in the list with $60 million from the
admissions to his former house, Graceland; it is now both a museum and a tourist attraction in
Memphis, Tennessee. According to Forbes writer Lacey Rose “Jackson’s spot atop our top earning dead celebrities list should come as no shock given the transformed fan interest in music, videos and all things Michael Jackson”
MJ 50 years old when he died in his
Los Angeles home on June 25, 2009. It was just after he decided and intended a series of concerts that will signal his comeback, it is entitled “This Is It”. He may have left his three children with a debt amounting to $500 million but his estates definitely took care of it. It generated millions of dollars since his death and most through record sales including “This Is It” concert movie, its licensing rights and deals to release
new albums.
