Winners of NEWGEN.

It has provided a platform for prominent alumni of designers, including Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane and Erdem.
Now the BFC has outlet the new recipients of NEWGEN funding for Autumn Winter 201's shows in February. The prize, supported by Topshop, provides catwalk and display sponsorship for new talent, and has been instrumental in accelarating the careers of some of Britain's most successful designers. David Koma, Holly Fulton, Louise Gray, Mary Katrantzou and Michael van der Ham will all have shows in February funded by NEWGEN. All but David Koma and Mary Katrantzou have formerly shown as part of Fashion East, but NEWGEN is perhaps the most wanted after sponsorship scheme; providing a generous budget, and venues at the hub of London Fashion Week.

Caroline Rush, Joint Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council described the selected designers today as, "directional, modern and showing incredible promise." She continued, "we are excited for them to demonstrate the best of London’s emerging design talent to a global audience“.

Those receiving support for presentations include Christopher Raeburn, Craig Lawrence, JS Lee, JW Anderson (film presentation) and Nasir Mazhar, whose millinery has already been worn by Lady Gaga and Madonna. It will be Topshop's seventeenth season of support for NEWGEN, and Mary Homer, Managing Director of Topshop, said of their connection that "even after nine years [it] is still as exciting and inspiring today as it was back in 2001."
